Between the Source of the River and the Sea: Writing our Life Stories

Sun 12 Aug 2018 09.30 -16.30 R520
In my first sleep I came to the river
and looked down through the clear water (Kathleen Raine)

Have you ever thought of your life as a river? It is such an apt image, popular in songs (Some say love, it is a river that drowns the tender reed) poems and novels (A River runs through it)Rising in the highlands at birth, tumbling over rocks, weaving though grassland and one day flowing into the sea. Lourensford RIver Som west

In this wordshop we draw a river map with its turns and twists, its waterfalls, eddies, its
floods and dry patches, its flowing current. We sketch the landscape on its banks. We use this as a symbol to tell our life journey down the river of our lives.

Whether you see yourself as a beginner or someone who befriends words, this wordshop will help you to find your voice – and will link to other ways of enjoying your creativity. We also focus on how to be present in your writing and engage the reader as a creative partner. Enrich your life. And source your bliss. You will discover/rediscover how to: align yourself with the one inside who knows how to write play, experiment and create a first draft breathe life into the words and let words breathe life into you

Bring writing materials and pastels/crayons. Bring a light lunch to share. Venue: home of Karin Ritchie: House 4 10 Heron Walk cnr Tartentaal St Sedgefield
