Once Upon A Journey: Writing your Life Story – A Course leading to a shared Publication – starts Feb 2019 – Dates available mid Nov

A few aspirant writers have asked for a structured course that offers a sense of progression and leads to a publication. So I am once again offering a Life Story/Memoir course Feb -Aug 2019. There is no admission requirement. We can all learn to write and have a story to tell.

Feedback from previous participants of LSP (Life Story Publication):
When we arrived, we shared a common commitment – to write. When we left, we shared so much more. Having discovered a home space that offered enrichment and blessings, a magic maestro to keep us inspired and safe, and kindred writers
for support, encouragement and laughter, we looked deep inside, opened our hearts, connected to our grief, dropped our masks, celebrated the child in us then looked in the mirror to see…ourselves.

The 2019 course consists of:

  • two weekend wordshops in the Western Cape – 1.5 days each. One for creating our stories, the other for crafting them
  • one-on-one email/phone/face to face tuition to grow the story
  • a publication featuring your and your companion’s writing
  • a celebratory book launch. Each writer receives 8 copies

Course Cost (12 needed to run the course) includes:

  • A copy of The Writers Voice , a workbook Zebra, 1998 – deduct R150 if you have book
  • Workshop tuition – 1.5 +1.5 days (or catch up sessions)…
  • A set of notes and ongoing support and encouragement via regular emails
  • One-on-one email/phone mentoring: up to 10 hours pp
  • Production costs – editing, proofing, cover design, layout and printing
  • 8 copies of the book (additional copies @R60 – own cost)
  • Book launch for you and one guest – catering, venue etc. (drinks own account)
  • surprise gift related to writing

Zen Pen: A Writing, Being & Meditation Retreat
Sun 11 Nov 09.30-16.30 R480

Looking at your image in a clear stream, you answer the question by your very presence
In this retreat we explore the connection between writing and meditation. We journey in story. We write and meditate on the many changes and transformations we experience as we travel along the river of our lives. We consider how creativity steadies the boat and how writing helps us dip the oars into dark water so we may navigate the river safely.

This retreat offers a safe place to find the words that tell your stories. Writing involves a conversation with yourself and with others. An exchange of energies. A skill drawn from attention, presence and openness – an organic process rather than a talent.
Whether you see yourself as a beginner or someone who has befriended words, this retreat will help you to find your voice. We also focus on how to be present in your writing and engage the reader as a creative partner.
