Mind the Gap: A Mindful Writing, Being & Meditation Retreat Fri 1 March 17.00 – Mon 4 March 10.00

Booking and payment through Temenos http://www.temenos.org.za 023 625 1193 Between living and dreaming there is a third thing. Guess it. (Antonio Machado) Writing is about a conversation with yourself and with others. An exchange of energies. It is a skill drawn from attention, presence and openness – an organic process rather than a talent.

On this retreat we follow Wordsworth’s advice ‘Fill your paper with the breathings of your heart’ As we move between words and silence we become mindful of the gap that the poet Machado talks about. We wander and wonder for a weekend the spaces in-between. When we write and meditate we attend to the moment in a zen-pen way. This moment open us up to time and space beyond tick-tock clock time.

Down the Line (March-May)

The if the Magaliesberg, Emoyeni Buddhist Retreat Centre (bookings emoyeni.org.za )

Zen Pen: A Journaling. Writing, Being & Meditation Retreat Wed 20 – Sun 24 March 2019 (includes Public Holiday Thurs 21 March)

A journal entry- like a song, or sketch, or photograph – breaks up the habitual and lifts away the film that forms over the eye, the finger, the tongue, the heart. A journal entry ought to be a love letter to the world. (Anthony Doerr, All the Light We Cannot See)

In this retreat we explore the connection between journaling, creative writing and meditation. We celebrate our daily (journal’ comes from Old French, ‘day’) encounter with ourselves through words and silence. As we journey along the river of our lives, we write with the ear, eye, tongue and heart.
